LA electric car sharing service puts focus on affordable pricing
Blue Solutions has launched its first electric vehicle car sharing service in the US, aimed at underserved communities.
The firm, part of French group Bolloré, already operates car sharing schemes in Paris (AutoLib), Lyon, Bordeaux, Turin, London (BlueCity), Singapore and Indianapolis, comprised entirely of the group’s Bluecar EV. The same vehicle is being used in Los Angeles but has been slightly modified to suit the American market.
The new service in LA – BlueLA – will also offer specific rates for low-income residents and is claimed to be the largest 100% EV carsharing service in the United States to be primarily targeted at underserved areas.
A total of 20 cars are currently available, which will grow to 100 cars by the end of the year in 40 locations around the city. By 2020, Blue Solutions will have 6,000 EVs available for hire and over 12,000 on-street charge points in eight global cities in Europe, Asia and the United States.
Marie Bolloré, CEO of Blue Solutions, said: “Blue Solution’s mobility division is growing at an unprecedented pace, and this is testament to the ground-breaking and user-friendly nature of our services. By the end of 2020, our international operations will represent 40% of our mobility division. We are constantly exploring new opportunities to provide large cities with the clean infrastructure they need to reduce pollution and congestion, and deliver healthier urban environments for their citizens.”
