Omada 5 SUV scores five-star Euro NCAP rating ahead of UK launch

The Omada 5 SUV has gained a five-star Euro NCAP rating ahead of its arrival in the UK.

The Omada 5 starts first deliveries in the UK in February 2024

Launching at the end of 2023 in petrol and fully electric versions, the 5 is the first car to arrive in the UK from Chinese car giant Chery under its “fashion-focused” Omada brand, which is being rolled out globally.

The name mixes ‘O’ representing “the bio element we need” and ‘moda’ indicating the fashion focus. Its line-up will also take an eco-conscious approach, with a focus on fully electric models, supporting the drive to net-zero carbon emissions.

The new brand has also committed to leading standards of global automotive safety – and the new Euro NCAP results show the Omada 5 excelled in each test category. It achieved 87% for adult occupant protection, 87% for child occupant protection, 88% for safety assistance systems and 68% for vulnerable road user protection.

At the core of the SUV’s safety features is a high-strength steel body structure comprising 78% steel and engineered to ensure structural integrity is maintained in the event of an accident. It also comes with multiple airbags, including those for driver and passenger seats, side airbags, side curtains and a middle airbag.

Driver assistance features include ACC adaptive cruise and lane keeping assist.

Chen Chunqing, CEO of Omada, said: “Safety has been a paramount consideration throughout the design and development of the Omada 5, and achieving such exceptional scores from Euro NCAP reflects our unwavering commitment to providing our customers with the highest level of protection and peace of mind. With each accolade and milestone, Omada strengthens its position as a trusted global automotive brand, dedicated to providing uncompromising safety and exceptional driving experiences for our customers.”

The Omada 5 is already on sale in 12 global markets, with a cumulative export sales figure of 70,821 units in the first half of 2023, and starts first deliveries in the UK in February 2024.
