Rapid charger to support ULEV taxis in St Albans
Working with St Albans District Council, the company is offering its drivers the ability to trial an electric vehicle before adopting one full time. Rapid charging enables a compatible EV to regain 80% of its range in around half an hour.
The APT Evolt Tri-Rapid charger is compatible with the CHAdeMo, Combined Charging System (CCS) and AC Type 2 standards, and has a maximum output of 50kW. It can also simultaneously charge two vehicles.
Electric Blue’s managing director, Alex Calnan, said: “Today marks an important step forward in the city’s ambitions to improve air quality for residents, as well as helping to reduce carbon emissions by harnessing electric power on our busy streets. Once the first taxi is operational we expect take up to increase exponentially, as owners and customers see the benefits.”
