Schneider Electric has teamed up with Arval to deploy a car share fleet of electric vehicles for use between its sites in Grenoble, France.

Schneider Electric EVs

Arval and Schneider Electric have inaugurated a 12 EV fleet for Schneider employes to use between four sites in Grenoble.

The company employs more than 5,000 people working in 13 sites. The scheme in Grenoble will see a fleet of 12 Renault ZOE EVs made available to employees at the group’s four main sites – Technopole, Electropole, PLM and Polytech – for a six-month trial period, with plans to subsequently double this to 14 vehicles.

Research carried out in 2015 among the 4,000 employees at these sites found that 60% of them regularly travel between the sites, once or twice a week or two or three times a month. Most journeys are done with employees’ own vehicles and the majority of them rarely use an alternative mode of transport. However, the survey found that 86% of the employees concerned were interested in setting up a fleet of clean vehicles dedicated to trips between sites.

The service makes use of the Arval l’AutoPartage car sharing service and gives employees the possibility to reserve a vehicle up to 20 minutes before their departure.
