Skoda gives insight on future large SUV with plug-in hybrid concept

Built on the VW Group’s modular MQB platform, the concept would slot above the Yeti in the carmaker’s line-up as it looks to broaden its SUV range. At 4.7m long, the VisionS is bigger than the Land Rover Discovery Spprt.

The 222bhp plug-in hybrid powertrain uses a 154bhp 1.4-litre TSI petrol engine with two electric motors set up to offer four-wheel drive. A lithium-ion battery with a 12.4kWh capacity is positioned in front of the rear axle.

The show car accelerates from 0 to 62mph in 7.4 seconds with a top speed of almost 124mph and delivers fuel economy of 149mpg with CO2 emissions of 45g/km. Electric-only range is 31 miles.
