Vauxhall has entered a new partnership with parking provider JustPark to help more UK drivers switch to an electric vehicle.

The JustCharge Community Charging network aims to make going electric easy for everyone by drivers with home charge points to rent them to others. This help drivers find convenient charging locations near their home, helping alleviate charging anxiety.

According to JustCharge, if just 5% of home charger owners joined the scheme, it would instantly double the UK’s publicly available charging network.

With the new partnership, Vauxhall will encourage its electric vehicle drivers to join the growing community network and make EV ownership even more convenient for more people. Drivers renting out their charger also benefit by further reducing their electric vehicle’s running costs from the revenue generated.

JustPark also offers solutions for fleets; under its recently launched FleetCharge scheme, the business sources and installs a charging device at the company driver’s property, and supplies the electricity for it, with the fees combined into a single monthly payment.

If a company driver does not have off-street parking, FleetCharge will source a parking space within a five minute walking distance and install a charging device which the fleet driver can use throughout.

This creates a private charging network for fleets to use, enabling trades and businesses to make the switch to electric – potentially sooner than they thought possible.

Vauxhall’s partnership with JustPark is the latest in its drive to open up EV accessibility. It’s recently boosted the electric driving ranges of its all-electric Mokka-e and Corsa-e models, whilst also reducing their prices to make them even more accessible. It’s also bolstered its van line-up with an all-electric version of every model – supporting its plans to only selling fully electric cars and vans from 2028.

Paul Willcox, managing director, Vauxhall, said: “Vauxhall is committed to making going electric as simple as possible – so, we’re delighted to lead the way and partner with JustPark and their new JustCharge Community Charging network. We believe it will make a genuine difference to encouraging more British drivers to go electric sooner – with all the environmental, financial and driving experience benefits that comes with.”
