Vauxhall has given the Astra and Astra Sports Tourer an upgrade for the new model year, complete with new design features and an uplift in electric range for the Astra Electric.

Showcased ahead of their debut at the Brussels Motor Show in January, the C-segment hatch and estate will continue to offer a wide range of powertrain options: from fully electric through 48V Hybrid versions and onto plug-in hybrid and petrol options.

The updated Astra Electric comes with a new 58kWh battery with a range of up to 282 miles (WLTP); up by 22 miles. It also gains vehicle-to-load (V2L) functionality for the first time, offering the ability to charge external devices such as e-bikes without having to rely on other power sources when on the go.

Design is inspired by the high-performance Vauxhall Corsa GSE Vision Gran Turismo concept car. New features include the Vauxhall Griffin at the front, which is illuminated for the first time on the Astra, as already premiered on the Grandland SUV. The Astra also gets the enhanced Vauxhall Vizor face, plus adaptive glare-free Intelli-Lux HD headlights. The adaptive, glare-free headlights have more than 50,000 elements and cut out preceding and oncoming road users even faster and more precisely than the previous matrix light technologies. The lighting technology also detects traffic signs and dims the LEDs so that the reflection does not dazzle the driver.

There’s also new alloy wheel designs and metallic paint colours.

The interior is designed for enhanced comfort, with Vauxhall’s Intelli-Seats now available for the first time on the Astra and provided as standard across the range, complete with an ergonomic recess.

In addition, Astra customers can tailor their comfort onboard with multi-adjustable, AGR-certified seats for driver and front passenger with covers made of the fully recycled ‘ReNewKnit’ material and incorporating multi-stage seat heating, electro-pneumatic lumbar support, and massage and memory functions.

Aligning with Vauxhall’s ‘Greenovation’ approach, more of the interior is now made from 100% recycled materials.

The cockpit and user interfaces of the infotainment system have also been made even clearer and more intuitive, in line with the latest models such as the Grandland.

Depending on the version, up to 1,339 litres of luggage can fit into the rear compartment of the hatchback with the seats folded down. The Astra Sports Tourer comes with a load volume of up to 1,634 litres and the rear seat backrest can fold down in a 40:20:40 ratio.

Further information on the new Astra and Astra Sports Tourer will be announced around the world premiere in Brussels in early 2026.
