British Gas is to deploy its 500th electric van this week, reinforcing plans for all its fleet to go electric by 2025.

British Gas’s 500th electric van is part of consignment of 3,000 Vauxhall Vivaro-e vehicles ordered over the last two years – all 3,000 will be on the road by the end of 2022

Unveiled by Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak this week, the new van is part of consignment of 3,000 Vauxhall Vivaro-e vehicles ordered over the last two years – all 3,000 will be on the road by the end of 2022.

British Gas will also show the capabilities and benefits of EVs to its colleagues and customers this week when two of its electric vans will undertake the 874-mile journey from John O’Groats to Land’s End.

British Gas has also committed to hire 3,500 ‘green skills’ apprentices over the next decade. The apprentices will be trained as Smart Energy Experts, enabling them to install and maintain carbon-efficient technologies, including much-needed EV vehicle charging points, in communities across the UK.
