Installed in partnership with Drax Electric Vehicles, the charging infrastructure enables fleet electrification, cuts workforce travel emissions and establishes the headquarters as a fully equipped venue for product demonstrations and training.
As part of the partnership, Drax conducted a comprehensive site survey, managed distribution network operator (DNO) discussions for capacity upgrades and designed a cost-effective network of fast chargers – each capable of charging two vehicles simultaneously.
Kiran Naidu, UK technical services manager at Werfen, explained: “With Drax, it was a different conversation immediately – less of a sales pitch and more of a consultation.”
The Drax installation team completed the project in a single phase with minimal operational disruption.
Naomi Thompson, EHS and facilities manager at Werfen, said: “During installation, the Drax team was very considerate and slick – they just got on with things without fuss.”
Werfen now tracks cost and CO2 savings through the Drax My Electric Vehicles portal, with plans to expand charging facilities to every parking space and add a rapid-charging hub for visitors.
Naomi Nye, head of sales at Drax Electric Vehicles, commented: “Our approach with Werfen exemplifies how proper site assessment and DNO collaboration can create more efficient infrastructure solutions.
“By understanding their actual usage patterns, we designed a cost-effective charging network that delivers exactly what they need while providing a platform for future growth.”
