Zest has opened new rapid EV charging facilities at the recently developed Starbucks and KFC site in Welshpool, delivered in partnership with site developer Stephen James Property.

The four 120kW charging bays serve both the new Starbucks cafe and KFC restaurant, which are located off the Buttington Roundabout on the A483.

The launch brings much-needed charging capacity to an area currently underserved by rapid and ultra-rapid charging; there are only a handful of comparable chargers available within a 20-mile radius.

At 65p per kWh, Zest’s 120kW chargers are among the lowest-priced rapid charging options in the area. The flat-rate prices apply 24/7 and there’s no subscription required to plug in.

Drivers can pay via contactless, the Zest app, or through popular roaming apps including Octopus Electroverse, Allstar and Plugsurfing.

Zest is expanding its EV charging network across a growing number of big-brand locations throughout the UK, including Starbucks, Aldi, Tesco, KFC, Home Bargains and Central Co-op.
