Chinese carmaker Aion has revealed pricing for its UT electric supermini, ahead of order books opening in September.
Priced from £28,950, the new hatchback will contest the Renault 5 and the Volkswagen ID. Polo while also competing with lower medium models. The UT aims to challenge traditional segment boundaries by offering enhanced refinement, space, equipment and electric range.
“The Aion UT is a supermini with class-leading performance, quality, space and premium features, continuing Aion’s work in helping customers see things differently,” said Jon Wakefield, managing director of Aion Auto UK.
It’s the second model to launch from Aion, the electric vehicle subsidiary of China’s state-owned Guangzhou Automobile Group (GAC Group), following the debut of the Aion V electric SUV earlier this year. The brand plans to expand its line-up in early 2027 with the addition of the GAC Trumpchi S7 PHEV.
The Aion UT has been penned at the company’s styling house in Milan with “design flair” to meet driver tastes in Europe.
The UK-specification UT features a front-wheel-drive electric motor that produces 204hp and is good for 0-62 mph in 7.3 seconds, making it one of the “perkiest” superminis about town. The 60kWh battery offers 268 miles of electric driving, billed as class-leading among the segment.
The UT has also been engineered for UK roads and Aion says the UK-specific chassis tune “serves up a playful character and composed ride”.
It’s offered in a single trim level that comes with features such as a heated steering wheel, heated front seats, a 14.6-inch central touch screen and 360-degree surround-view camera.
The cabin is said to offer generous legroom and headroom for front and rear passengers, along with 24 practical storage areas and a large 440-litre multi-layer boot.
Buyers can choose to enhance their UT with an optional Premium Pack that’s priced at £1,200 and adds a panoramic glass roof, powered tailgate, ventilated driver’s seat and wireless phone charging.
Drivers also get the Aion Great 8 Promise as standard. This combines an eight-year warranty, eight years’ servicing, eight years’ roadside assistance and MOT until the car is eight years old

The Aion UT will make its public debut at the British Motor Show in Farnborough this weekend (21-23 August 2026) alongside the Aion V SUV. First customer deliveries are scheduled to begin in October.
