The AA is saving up to £1,000 per driver, every year, by switching to home charging with accurate reimbursements.

The motoring services giant teamed up with Rightcharge to cut the admin out of EV charging payments.

The AA needed a way to make reimbursements accurate and fair, without the admin of “heavy lifting”.

Data from Rightcharge shows public charging was costing the AA around 74.1p/kWh while home charging averages just 22.6p/kWh.

With payments now automated, 82% of the AA fleet’s charging now happens at home, reducing reliance on expensive public networks. That shift saves about £12.90 on every full charge. Over a year, that puts £1,000 back in the pot per driver.

For a fleet of AA’s size, that shift unlocks “serious operational savings”..

Rightcharge automated the whole process; drivers simply connect their home charger, energy tariff and vehicle to the platform. The software calculates the exact cost of every home charging session and credits the reimbursement straight to the driver’s energy account so that they’re never out of pocket.
