Amey is rolling out its first electric vehicle charge points in collaboration with Trafford Council.

The partnership will deliver up to 100 new public chargers across Trafford, with charge points sited in the most suitable locations for residents, offering drivers greater choice and supporting more communities to make the switch to EVs.

All the new charge points in Trafford will be powered by 100% zero-carbon energy, reinforcing Amey’s commitment to decarbonisation, while supporting Trafford Council’s climate goals and the Government’s transition to zero-emission vehicles.

The project utilises City Region Sustainable Transport Settlements funding to trial and deliver sustainable public EV charging infrastructure in various residential areas across Trafford, with a particular focus on supporting households without off-street parking.

Richard Roe, Trafford Council’s corporate director of place, said: “This is an extension to the current EV charging options in the borough and is great news for committed EV owners and those who are thinking about going electric.”

Amey is installing charge points across the UK to suit drivers’ needs. Its network will provide affordable, accessible and easy-to-use solutions so people can charge close to home and while on the move.

To optimise public and private funding opportunities, the infrastructure services firm’s investment capabilities will work in partnership with local authorities looking to boost the adoption of electric vehicles across all communities.

Amey will start the installation of EV charging points in Trafford in the coming weeks.
