Aston Barclay recruits first-ever EV lead to support net zero shift

Aston Barclay has appointed its first-ever EV lead as part of its plans to become a leading destination for electric vehicles.

Albert Parnell will drive buyer knowledge and engagement of EVs

Albert Parnell brings five years’ experience at Tesla, where he was initially a product specialist before becoming store manager at Tesla Chelmsford. Prior to that, he worked for Apple.

Parnell will help support Aston Barclay and its customers on their individual journeys to net zero by driving electric vehicle knowledge and engagement. The auction company was one of the first to announce an EV-only auction at Donington and Parnell will be on site for every EV sale, ready to support buyers with any questions they may have.

It’s the latest investment in buyer engagement from the group, following the introduction of buyer executives at each site, and Parnell will enhance buyer knowledge on all aspects of EVs.

He’ll also facilitate training for Aston Barclay’s auction colleagues. Over 160 colleagues will be IMI Level 1 trained by the end of 2023.

“The EV sector is constantly changing, and my job will be to use my knowledge and contacts to keep colleagues and customers one step ahead of the game,” explained Parnell.

As part of its aim to become a destination for EVs, Aston Barclay is also ramping up its focus on providing EV data. Its monthly ‘desirability index’ for used cars now includes the top 10 fastest-selling used EVs while its quarterly insights report features EV pricing and demand trends – providing valuable data for both buyers and vendors to optimise used EV sales and prices.
