AX grows fleet and adds more EVs in major BMW and Mini order

AX has added hundreds of new vehicles to its fleet and bolstered electrification growth with a bumper new order from BMW and Mini.

The accident aftercare specialist has ordered over 500 BMWs and Minis, growing its pool of replacement vehicles at its depots across the UK. The order includes BMW 1, 2 and 3 Series models and 25 Minis.

Nearly a third (28%) of the new vehicles will be electrified, with either fully electric or plug-in hybrid powertrains. These include the i4, i5, iX1 and iX2 models.

The business, which was first to establish an EV-for-EV replacement vehicle promise to support its dealer, fleet and insurer partners, is further expanding its electric fleet to ensure drivers do not have to compromise – by stepping back into an ICE car – if their EV is off the road following an incident.

Amid uncertainty in the accident aftercare sector and wider automotive industry, AX said the deal signals its robust position as one of the longest-established accident aftercare providers in the UK.

Dan Cripps, fleet & logistics director at AX, said: “The focal point of our business has always been customer service; that is what has enabled us to thrive and will continue to underpin our operations through both our AX and Motor Assist brands.

“With this purchase of hundreds of superb BMW models, we are ensuring that our partners and their drivers will receive the absolute best and most appropriate replacement vehicles in a timely manner. It is a real privilege to collaborate with BMW and we are pleased to have such a stable foundation as a business which allows us to add to our fleet to deliver even better customer service.”

The collaboration with BMW also supports AX’s commitment to a comprehensive environmental, social and governance (ESG) strategy.

Cripps added: “We have made a concerted effort to establish a robust ESG policy and by adopting more EVs, it represents another step towards greater sustainability.”
