Be.EV has partnered with AAAZ Investments to install ultra-rapid charging bays by a Tesco Express store in Blackburn.

The two 150kW ultra-rapid charging bays can deliver an 80% charge in some 20 minutes

The EV charging network has invested £223,000 to install two 150kW Kempower ultra-rapid charging bays, capable of giving up to 80% of charge in a 20-minute stop.

The new site, located on Livesy Branch Road, will benefit local Blackburn residents as well as EV drivers taking longer journeys and needing a quick charge. Just a 10-minute drive from the M65, the site is located in a handy spot for these commuters.

It’s also the latest step to make sure Lancashire is prepared for the EV revolution, with the council estimating that the country will need about 6,6645 charge points for an estimated 240,000 EVs on Lancashire’s roads by 2030.

The deal is set to provide significant financial benefit to AAAZ Investments, with figures indicating that ultra-rapid EV charging bays yield an extra £4,000 of rental income for landlords at high-traffic locations.

A spokesperson from AAAZ Investments commented: “EV charging has become much more of a priority for us as more EVs hit the road, so it’s important to us to get EV charging at our sites before they become the most common vehicle on the road.

“This new site will be a welcome addition for local residents and drivers on longer journeys.”
