Cats Protection has deployed its first electric vans under a renewed sole supply partnership with Peugeot.

The charity has deployed the Peugeot e-Expert electric vans on the back of successful trials in 2020

The charity first started working with Peugeot in 2012 and uses its fleet of vans for its day-to-day activities, supporting its work to rescue cats and kittens across the UK.

In 2019, it awarded a sole supply agreement, selecting the Peugeot 308 as its main passenger car of choice and it’s since expanded its fleet to welcome the fully electric Peugeot e-Expert van as one of its core vehicles, helping the charity transport and rehome cats in UK towns and cities.

The electric van is available with either a 50kWh or a 75kWh battery, bringing a range of up to 205 miles, and supports up to 100kW rapid charging, enabling an 80% charge in 30 minutes. It features a 136hp electric motor and has a maximum payload of 1,226kg and a load volume of up to 6.6m3.

The charity typically adds 50 vans per year to its fleet – all liveried with its familiar branding – as well as deploying a number of passenger cars to support its services.

Dawn Widgery, Cats Protection fleet and facilities administrator, said: “We have been using Peugeot cars and vans since 2012 to undertake activities such as delivering cats to their new owners, doing vet runs and making shop visits. We chose Peugeot because they offer a wide choice of vehicles – including electric vans which we started trialling with success at a selection of our urban sites in 2020 – and because they offer good value for money.”
