EV charging trade association ChargeUK has appointed Shane Brennan as its chief executive officer, effective from late August 2026.

Bringing over 20 years of experience of senior trade association leadership, Brennan will succeed ChargeUK’s first CEO Vicky Read who announced her intention to step down earlier this year.

Brennan will join ChargeUK from the Global Cold Chain Alliance, where he has held a global policy role for the past three years, having previously led the Cold Chain Federation in the UK as chief executive.

Brennan was selected by the ChargeUK board for his combination of trade association leadership, policy influence and member engagement experience.

As CEO, he will be tasked with leading ChargeUK through its next phase of growth, implementing a strategy to take the organisation “to a new level of influence, stability and impact”.

Iain Coucher, chair of the industry body, said: “Shane’s extensive experience leading trade organisations in complex industries that share challenges with the charging sector, implementing strategic change and achieving significant growth, stood out as directly suited to lead ChargeUK into its next phase.

“His record shaping policy with evidence led advocacy chimes with the organisations’ well-established position as a trusted voice for the charging sector. The Board is confident that Shane’s energy, experience and commitment to the organisation’s mission will deliver real benefits for ChargeUK and its members.”
