EV battery testing and analytics company ClearWatt has launched a major update to its rapid EV battery health test, providing “unparalleled insights” into the status of the battery in a second-hand EV.

Aimed at fleet operators, car buyers and dealers, the new Battery Scorecard features easy-to-understand metrics that go beyond “superficial” state of health (SoH) values derived from the BMS (Battery Management System).

The Battery Scorecard analyses a wide range of battery health indicators, including battery condition including cell voltages, thermal system and pack chemistry. It also looks at usage history including fast / slow charging proportion; software insights such as OTA update status; and performance and warranty insights.

The new Battery Scorecard sits within the ClearWatt Flash Report framework, where an OBD dongle and accompanying app can retrieve core data from the vehicle, which is combined with further proprietary data to generate a report in just a couple of minutes.

The new report has been developed in partnership with the National Franchise Dealers Association (NFDA), aligning with the guidelines for the Electric Vehicle Approved (EVA) scheme, ensuring dealers and fleet operators receive the right information for confident decision-making.
