Revealed as Cupra continues to rack up record sales, the Spanish brand’s best-selling SUV and hatchback/estate have already played a pivotal role in its success and now embrace its new design language.

The aggressive new styling includes a ‘shark-nose’ front end and triangular matrix LED lights.

The interior also brings newly designed elements such as the central console, while also advancing the focus on sustainability.

The infotainment system has a larger 12.9-inch screen for the infotainment system, which now also comes with a retro-illuminated slider and also runs on new and improved software.

Both cars also feature a new high-fidelity 12-speaker audio sound system developed in collaboration with Sennheiser.

The engine line-up consists of TSI (petrol), eTSI (mild hybrid) and a new generation of eHybrid (plug-in hybrid).

The headliner is a new 2.0-litre direct-injection TSI petrol engine, delivering 333hp and linked to a seven-speed DSG gearbox. It introduces a new torque splitter technology and Akebono brakes.

The petrol line-up also includes a lead-in 150hp four-cylinder 1.5-litre engine with a six-speed manual – also available as a 48V mild hybrid – plus a 300hp 2.0-litre TSI with seven-speed DSG dual-clutch transmission and a 204hp 2.0 litre TSI with DSG and all-wheel drive.

The updated Formentor and Leon will also feature a new generation of plug-in hybrid (eHybrid) powertrain options, delivering 204hp and 272hp. These are equipped with a new 1.5 TSI engine, electric motor and a larger 19.7kWh battery compared to the 13kWh pack before. As a result, they’re now able to deliver more than 62 miles of all-electric range, putting them in the 8% Benefit-in-Kind bracket for the 2024/24 tax year.

The larger battery can now be fast charged at up to 50kW (DC charge) while on the road, or at home using a 11kW wallbox (previously 3.6kW).

Deliveries of the new Leon and Formentor will begin this summer. Prices and full specification details will be announced closer to the launch.
