Danske Bank UK has introduced a salary sacrifice scheme from Tusker, focused on EVs to help its employees go electric.

Paul Gilshan, Tusker CEO

The business, the biggest bank in Northern Ireland and fast growing across Great Britain, approached Tusker at the beginning of 2022 to introduce the benefits scheme for its employees.

The solution provides staff with access to a brand-new hybrid or fully electric car for a fixed monthly cost in return for giving up part of their gross salary. It delivers significant savings compared to personal leasing and enables a larger population of its employees the opportunity to lease a new car, which they otherwise would not have access to, while also helping drivers and the company with decarbonisation.

Employee interest in the Danske Bank scheme has been fast rising since its introduction in September, with many of the bank’s employees enjoying the premise of the scheme and 45% of staff already logging in to have a look at the cars available.

Susan McAllister, HR people services and systems manager, said: “Following a high level of interest in salary sacrifice schemes from colleagues and continuing our efforts towards improving our carbon footprint as an organisation, the Tusker car benefits scheme seemed to be a great solution for us. We can now offer a vehicle to a larger portion of our colleagues, who have not had this option in the past.”

She added: “Tusker provides a selection of process maps to ensure the induction of the scheme is as smooth as possible. We found Tusker to be very easy to work with, and every detail throughout the process was clear. We also found any feedback or queries were dealt with quickly and accurately.”

As of the start of October, Tusker had already launched more than 300 customer salary sacrifice schemes to date in 2022, supporting businesses with their long-term sustainability goals. The Government’s Autumn Statement announcement of continued favourable BiK rates on electric cars means salary sacrifice schemes will remain an attractive benefit going forwards too.

Paul Gilshan, CEO at Tusker, commented: “We’re focused on ensuring as many people as possible have access to a brand new, low- or zero-emission car so it’s great to see that the employees at Danske Bank now have access to the scheme, helping them move to greener electric cars.”
