EDF supercharges Britain’s ‘cheapest EV tariff’ with smart charging bolt-on

EDF has launched a Smart Charging bolt-on for its “market-leading” EV tariffs.

Customers can save up to an additional £239 per year with the Smart Charging bolt-on

Available to customers on the GoElectric or the EVolve tracker tariff, Smart Charging gives drivers extra off-peak charging for their home and car when electricity is cheapest and greenest.

Smart Charging provides customers with off-peak rates for both their home and car beyond the standard off-peak window (12am – 5am).

GoElectric, said to be Britain’s cheapest fixed EV tariff, already offers annual savings of £489 compared to the standard variable tariff. With Smart Charging, customers can save up to an additional £239 per year, bringing the total potential savings to over £700 a year.

Smart Charging is set up for quick and easy use. By connecting their vehicle and inputting their charging preferences in MyAccount, drivers will receive a personalised daily charging schedule, letting them know when their off-peak hours will be, so they can plug in and enjoy cheaper electricity at home when they need it most. Customers also receive £5 off their bill each month.

EDF is also giving a £25 welcome bonus for the first 500 eligible customers who sign up to Smart Charging.

Rich Hughes, director of retail at EDF said: “We’re excited to modernise the way EV owners manage their charging needs, helping them maximise the benefits of their vehicle through automatic charging. And don’t worry, if your car or charger isn’t currently supported, we’ll contact you as soon as it is. It’s time to start charging smarter with EDF.”
