Mini is to launch a limited-run electric Cooper SE Convertible, aimed at drivers wanting zero-emission, open-top driving.

The Mini Electric Convertible will be limited to 999 units for Europe, with 150 units destined for the UK

Open for orders in April, it will be produced alongside the conventional Mini Convertible in the Netherlands – but with a limited run of 999 units. Just 150 models are destined for the UK, priced at £52,500.

The powertrain uses the same 184hp electric motor as the Mini EV, delivering 0-62mph in 8.2 seconds. WLTP range stands at 124 miles. Dimensions remain the same as the combustion version, including 160 litres of boot space.

It launches on the back of positive feedback on the prototype presented in summer 2022 and marks the latest developments for electric mobility.

“Three years ago, we launched the Mini Electric, and today one in five Mini models sold in Europe is an all-electric Mini. This success has spurred us to implement the small series of the Mini Electric Convertible within only a few months. I’m delighted that we can offer 999 Mini customers an extraordinary and exclusive open-air go-kart feeling,” said head of brand, Stefanie Wurst.

Just one fixed specification will be offered, available with two exterior paint choices: Enigmatic Black or White Silver. Bespoke features include numbering for each of the 999 units available on the side scuttles and door sill trims, plus 17-inch two-tone alloy wheels, made from recycled aluminium.

The interior includes Mini Yours sports seats, equipped in Leather Lounge design and with heating and adjustable thigh support, and a multifunctional sports steering wheel, heated and featuring the Mini Electric logo.

eDrive services provide the driver with current energy consumption, range and tips for economical driving, all displayed via head-up display. The Electric Convertible also comes with Active Cruise Control with Stop & Go function, and Mini Driving Assistant.
