Used electric vehicles dominated the UK second-hand market in June, securing four of the top five fastest-selling spots for three-year-old cars, according to data specialist Brego.

Brego’s Fastest Five, the monthly snapshot of the quickest-selling vehicle derivatives across key market segments, showed the Polestar 2 Long Range Single Motor was June’s quickest-selling three-year-old car, taking an average of just 5.4 days to sell at an average sale price of £17,614.

Another Polestar 2 derivative, the Standard Range Single Motor, also appeared in third place, averaging 9.0 days to sale at £17,537.

The MG4 SE EV ranked fourth at 10.8 days to sale, while the Škoda Enyaq iV 60 Lodge completed the top five at 10.9 days. The only non-EV in the three-year-old Fastest Five was the Škoda Karoq 1.5 TSI SE L Edition DSG, which ranked second at 8.7 days.

The June data follows Brego’s May Fastest Five, which also highlighted strong movement among used EVs, with the Volvo C40 Recharge Core taking the title for the quickest-selling three-year-old car during the month.

Brego said the latest figures underline the importance of looking at used EV performance by age, derivative, price point and market position, rather than relying on broad assumptions around electric vehicle demand.

Rupert Pontin, head of insight and communications, said: “The three-year-old market is becoming one of the clearest places to see used EV demand forming. These are cars moving into a more accessible price band, and June’s Fastest Five shows that the right stock can move extremely quickly.

“What matters is the detail. Used EV performance is not one single story. Some models and derivatives are attracting buyers very quickly, while others need much closer attention around price, specification, condition, range and wider market context.”

Brego’s June Fastest Five also showed strong activity in the wider used EV market, with Audi Q4 e-tron derivatives taking four of the five quickest-selling EV spots.

The Q4 e-tron SUV 82kWh Quattro Sport was June’s quickest-selling used EV, averaging 7.41 days to sale at £22,944. It was followed by the Audi Q4 e-tron SUV 63kWh S Line at 7.64 days and the Audi Q4 e-tron Sportback 82kWh Performance S Line at 7.84 days.

The Tesla Model 3 Long Range RWD ranked fourth at 8.2 days, while another Audi Q4 e-tron derivative completed the top five at 9.62 days.

Pontin added: “The presence of four Audi Q4 e-tron derivatives in the EV Fastest Five is a useful reminder that brand, specification, battery size, body style and pricing can all change the speed-of-sale picture.

“For retailers, lenders and remarketing businesses, the commercial opportunity sits in understanding which specific vehicles are moving quickly and where buyer confidence is building.”

Brego’s Fastest Five also tracks the quickest-selling pre-registered cars, 10-year-old cars and Chinese cars.

In the pre-registered market, the Peugeot 208 1.2 PureTech 100 Allure was June’s quickest seller, averaging 5.3 days to sale at an average sale price of £17,988. The Kia Sportage HEV GT-Line and MG HS PHEV Trophy both followed at 5.6 days.

In the Chinese car category, which does not include legacy brands such as Volvo and Lotus, the MG HS PHEV Trophy ranked first at 6.8 days to sale, followed by the MG4 SE EV at 14.5 days. Chery also appeared twice in the top five, with the Tiggo 8 and Tiggo 9.

Brego’s Fastest Five is based on Brego whole-market data and ranks vehicle derivatives by average days to sale, using a minimum threshold of 30 sales per derivative.
