Fleet EV specialist EO Charging has been sold to charging provider Pod a month after entering administration.

EO Charging’s technology and team will join Pod, significantly expanding its commercial fleet and depot charging capabilities. Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Pod, which was fully acquired by French energy giant EDF in August 2025, said the deal would bring together its existing strengths in smart charging and energy flexibility with EO’s software and fleet management technologies. The agreement will also ensure existing EO Charging customers will continue to receive stable and uninterrupted service.

Together with EDF, the combined offering will integrate depot software, energy supply, smart energy management and flexibility trading to support fleet operators as electrification continues to scale across the UK.

Founded in 2014, EO Charging provides specialist depot charging software and technologies designed to help fleet operators manage charging performance, optimise energy usage and support large-scale EV operations for customers including Amazon, DHL and Tesco.

The acquisition expands Pod’s capabilities across logistics, transport and operational fleet environments, complementing its existing strengths across home, workplace and public charging.

Pod – which rebranded last year from Pod Point and shifted its focus to all-inclusive home charging subscriptions and expanded fleet services – said the deal would create a strong basis to support depot charging customers today and develop new services over time.

The company spotlighted how depot charging is becoming an increasingly significant part of the wider EV and energy ecosystem, as fleet electrification rapidly expands due to targeted funding and “regulatory tailwinds”.

However, limited grid capacity and slow connection times are creating major bottlenecks. Operators are increasingly adopting advanced software and energy management platforms to optimise charging, maximise density and shift overnight depot charging to off-peak periods.

Combining EO Charging’s depot platform with Pod’s existing smart charging and energy flex capabilities will strengthen Pod’s ability to support mission-critical commercial charging environments.
