Europcar has boosted its UK electric fleet with the addition of a range of premium Mercedes Benz models.

Europcar’s new EV arrivals include the EQA 250 SUV, EQC 400 4Matic 4×4 and the EQE 300 saloon

The EQA SUV, EQC 4×4 and EQE saloon are now available to business and private motorists from locations across the UK, offered on both short-term hire and longer-term rental.

The new arrivals include the EQA 250 AMG Line Premium, EQC 400 4Matic AMG Line and EQE 300 AMG Line, which combine the benefits of zero emissions and effortless electric driving with premium interiors and equipment.

The EQA 250 SUV has a 70.5kWh battery, delivering a driving range up to 324 miles. The larger EQC 4×4 comes with an 80kWh battery and a range of up to 254 miles. The EQE saloon has the largest battery (98kWh capacity) and delivers a range of up to 388 miles.

Each also feature the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) infotainment system, with voice, touch or gesture input controls and an AI-based infotainment system. The voice control system enables the driver or passengers to control many of the infotainment functions, including destination input, phone calls or music selection. The system understands different accents as well as indirect commands – for example, it will increase the temperature when someone in the car says they are cold.

The new arrivals support Europcar’s ‘One Sustainable Fleet’ programme, which aims to have at least 20% of its vehicles emitting less than 50g/km by the end of 2024.

Mark Newberry, UK commercial director and sustainability spokesperson, commented: “We now have EVs of almost every size, shape and spec on our fleet. And the addition of these three new models ensures we can help the widest range of drivers to choose an electric vehicle for their next rental, removing another barrier to those considering making the switch from petrol or diesel.

“At Europcar we are committed to helping drivers adapt to the future of electric driving as soon as possible. And try-before-you-buy EV rental demonstrates that many of the perceived challenges with electric cars are far less significant than expected.”

Europcar has also adapted its customer support for electric vehicles. It’s now providing certified electric vehicle experts at selected locations around the UK and comprehensive vehicle handover and charging instructions support.

Drivers also get a digital EV guide to help them understand the best vehicle for their journey, charging cables and the Shell Recharge card and app, providing access to over 10,000 publicly accessible charge points across the UK.

Fleets, meanwhile, can access CO2 reporting to gain valuable insights into emissions reduction.
