A brand-new ultra-rapid charging hub that will deliver a lifeline for local EV drivers and tourists is now open on Scotland’s west coast.
The site features an initial four 400kW charging bays, with the capacity to expand to eight
The site is located off Greenock’s Main Street in a prime location for anyone travelling from Glasgow and along Scotland’s west coast, and fills a vital gap in ultra-rapid charging within the area.
An initial four charging bays, with the capacity to expand to eight, are supplied with 100% renewable energy, enabling drivers with compatible cars to add up to 100 miles of range in five minutes.
The latest hub to go live in Fastned’s ambitious plans for Scotland, it’s the company’s third charging hub in the west of the country and fifth in Scotland overall.
Chargers feature a range of payment methods and the new hub is covered by Fastned’s iconic solar canopy, which, along with keeping drivers dry while charging, helps the site stand out from the road and also shows non-EV drivers that fast charging is available to them, encouraging them to make the switch.
Tom Hurst, UK country director at Fastned, said: “We’re delighted to open our fifth charging hub in Scotland, and provide much-needed charging in an area with a low number of ultra-rapid chargers. Watch this space as there’s much more to come!”
