Ford S-Max and Galaxy Hybrids go on sale

Ford’s new S-Max and Galaxy Hybrid MPVs have opened for orders, bringing significantly reduced CO2 along with pure-electric driving capability.

Ford’s new hybrid seven-seat MPVs have been developed to bring diesel-rivalling fuel efficiency and optimised driving refinement

Developed to offer a “compelling alternative” to the existing EcoBlue diesels, the S-Max Hybrid is priced from £36,535 and offered in all three trims while the Galaxy Hybrid comes solely in top-spec Titanium, priced at £38,695.

They feature the same 190hp petrol-electric powertrain, which combines a 2.5-litre Atkinson cycle petrol engine with an electric motor, 1.1kWh lithium-ion battery and the latest generation of the Ford-developed power-split automatic transmission with continuously variable ratio.

The powertrain can reduce CO2 emissions by more than 10% compared to the equivalent EcoBlue diesel powertrain.

S-Max Hybrid CO2 emissions run from 147-148g/km with fuel efficiency from 43.5-44.1mpg. This compares to emissions of 169-170g/km for the S-Max 2.0-litre EcoBlue diesel 190hp FWD automatic.

For the Galaxy Hybrid – which marks the first time the Galaxy has been offered as a full hybrid – CO2 is 148g/km and it has an official combined 44.1mpg.

The S-Max Hybrid also delivers up to 2,200 litres of load capacity behind the first row of seats (285 litres with all seats in place) and towing capacity up to 1,560kg. The S-Max Hybrid features with the standard FordPass Connect modem, which provides WiFi for up to 10 devices, provides live traffic updates for the navigation system and enables remote features including door lock unlock, vehicle status and vehicle locator via the FordPass mobile app, as well as Ford’s Local Hazard Information.

The new Ford Galaxy Hybrid delivers up to 2,339 litres of cargo volume behind the first row of seats and 300 litres of cargo volume with all seven seats in place.
