The Hyundai Ioniq 5 has made history at the 2026 Auto Express Used Car Awards, becoming the first electric vehicle ever to be named overall Used Car of the Year.

Judges praised the Ioniq 5’s striking design, generous cabin space and advanced technology. With second-hand examples now available from just over £13,000, the historic victory underscores the enduring appeal of the model, which also secured the Best Used Electric Car title.

Meanwhile, the Tucson was crowned Best Used Mid-Size SUV, reinforcing Hyundai’s position as the most successful manufacturer at this year’s awards.
