The Isuzu D-Max EV has debuted in right-hand-drive form at this year’s CV Show ahead of sales opening in May.

Uncovered at last year’s event in a European format and already trialled by National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), the new D-Max EV is the first fully electric pickup in the UK to provide over one-tonne payload, 3.5-tonne towing capacity and permanent four-wheel drive.

Debuted at the CV Show alongside the new D-Max 2.2 diesel, the EV pickup is available in extended and double cab configurations. Both are powered by dual motors located on the front and rear axles with a total output of 203hp and 348Nm of torque that’s good for accelerating from 0 to 62mph in 10.1 seconds with a top speed of 84mph.

The dual-motor powertrain is fed by a 66.9kWh lithium-ion battery with an official WLTP combined range of 163 miles. The D-Max EV can charge up to 80% within six hours from 11kW AC three-phase charging, or within an hour from a DC 50kW supply.

Full-time four-wheel drive delivers four selectable regenerative charging levels, while an optional Eco drive mode extends the range of the D-Max EV.

It’s based on the latest-generation Isuzu D-Max strengthened ladder chassis to withstand heavy payloads, and comes with a new De-Dion semi-independent suspension system to improve handling and ensure a more refined ride, contributing to a reduction in cabin noise and vibration under full acceleration by up to 10%.

The new fully electric pickup also comes as standard with the D-Max Rough Terrain Mode for “exceptional” offroad capability, with ground clearance of 210mm, water wading up to 600mm and off-road approach and departure angles of 30.5 degrees and 24.2 degrees respectively.

The D-Max EV is available in eDL40 and eV-Cross trims levels featuring leather/high-grade cloth interiors.

Standard features include dual-zone climate control, heated seats, front and rear parking sensors, bi-LED headlights, seven-inch driver information display, and an eight-year, 125,000-mile battery warranty. Both eDL40 and eV-Cross are offered in Splash White with optional premium colours including Dolomite White pearl on the eV-Cross.

The Isuzu D-Max EV comes with a five-year, 125,000-mile vehicle warranty, plus EU and UK roadside assistance. First deliveries start May 2026.
