Jaecoo, the fast-rising offshoot of Chinese giant Chery, has revealed prices and specifications for the E5 electric crossover.
On sale now from £27,505, it’s the brand’s first all-electric SUV and joins the petrol Jaecoo 5 that arrived last month from £24,505.
A new rival to models such as the Peugeot e-2008 and Kia EV3, the pure electric version of the compact crossover SUV features a 207hp electric motor producing 288Nm of torque and giving 0-62mph in 7.7 seconds.
The 61.1kWh lithium‑iron phosphate battery delivers an official WLTP range of up to 248 miles. An 80kW DC fast charger can top the battery from 30 to 80% in around 27 minutes and the E5 also comes with vehicle‑to‑load (V2L) capability that lets drivers power everything from camping equipment to laptops directly from the car.
As with the Jaecoo 5, the electric version benefits from a chassis tuned for UK roads and a suite of 19 ADAS driver assistance features. These include Level 2 autonomous driving, adaptive cruise control and collision mitigation systems, ensuring a composed, confident drive on urban roads and further afield.
Styling retains the bold, rugged looks of the ICE Jaecoo 5 and the larger Jaecoo 7 SUV that’s already on sale. The five‑seat layout comes with over 35 interior storage spaces and a 480‑litre boot that expands to 1,180 litres with the rear seats folded. It’s also designed with four-legged companions in mind – including a dedicated ‘Pet Mode’ that keeps the cabin safe for pets when parked and a range of branded pet accessories.
A “technology-rich” cabin features a 13.2-inch central display with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, app-based remote controls and a 540-degree panoramic view camera as standard.
The E5 is offered in two trim levels – Pure and Luxury. Specification on entry-level Pure models includes six-speaker Sony audio, six-way manually adjustable front seats and Level 2 ADAS features.
The Luxury model is priced from £30,505 and adds a panoramic sunroof, wireless mobile phone charging, heated and ventilated electrically adjustable front seats, multi-coloured ambient lighting, and an eight-speaker Sony audio upgrade.
Every Jaecoo E5 comes with a seven-year/100,000-mile vehicle warranty (whichever comes first) and an additional eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery. There is no mileage limit for the first three years, and RAC Home Start comes as standard.
First UK deliveries are expected from October via the expanding Omoda&Jaecoo UK dealer network.
