Jeep Grand Cherokee plug-in hybrid lands in UK
The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid is on sale in the UK, priced from £69,915.
Now in its fifth generation, the American brand’s flagship model arrives in Europe solely in PHEV guise. It joins Jeep’s existing ‘4xe’ Renegade and Compass PHEV models as well as the fully electric Avenger SUV, providing an important step in the brand’s roadmap to full electric.
The 4xe powertrain combines a turbocharged 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine, two electric motors, eight-speed automatic transmission and Jeep 4×4 systems. The result is 380hp and 637Nm of torque, plus 0-62mph acceleration in 6.3 seconds.
Drivers can also choose from four different PHEV modes while the battery pack delivers up to 31 miles of all-electric range, and a total combined range of up to 434 miles.
It’s also pitched as one of the most technologically advanced, 4×4-capable and refined utility vehicles ever, offering “unrivalled capability along with composed on-road driving dynamics” thanks to its Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II 4×4 systems.
UK trim line-up spans Limited, Trailhawk, Overland and Summit Reserve grades.
Limited starts from £69,915 and is intended to meet business needs. It includes a 10.25-inch driver’s display, plus 10-inch radio nav infotainment system. The Trailhawk starts from £73,915 and delivers 18-inch wheels with All Terrain tyres, front disconnect sway bar and skid plates. Overland spans both models to provide comfort features and Jeep capability, starting from £75,915. At the top of the range, the Summit Reserve comes in from £85,615 and delivers 21-inch wheels, Palermo leather seats, wood accents, 19-speaker sound system and a 10-inch passenger display, said to be a segment-exclusive.
More than 110 safety and security features are available, including active driving assist with hands-on Level 2 semi-autonomous driving, plus 360-degree surround view and night vision cameras.
Customer deliveries of the Grand Cherokee 4xe plug-in hybrid start in Q3 2023.
