Kia has set a new Guinness World Record™ for electric vehicle range, with its all-new PV5 Cargo – the brand’s first fully electric light commercial vehicle – covering 693.38 kilometres (430.84 miles) on a single charge while carrying its maximum payload.

The record-breaking drive took place on 30 September 2025 near Frankfurt, Germany, under real-world road conditions.

The PV5 Cargo L2H1 71.2kWh completed 12 urban and extra-urban loops featuring traffic, intersections, and elevation changes, proving its efficiency and durability. Even with additional load, the van’s range reduced by 1.5% per 100kg of extra payload.

The record run was driven by journalist George Barrow and engineer Christopher Nigemeier, and independently verified by TÜV Hessen inspectors.

As the first model in Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) line-up, the PV5 sits on the E-GMP.S modular platform, offering flexible configurations for Cargo, Passenger, Crew Van, and Camper variants. The L2H1 version provides 4.4m³ of load space and up to 790kg payload capacity, with 51.5kWh or 71.2kWh battery options.
