Osprey Charging has officially powered up one of the region’s largest ultra-rapid EV charging hubs at Twyford Services, in a significant move to eliminate ‘charging anxiety’ for motorists in the Midlands and West of England.

The flagship site, located at the busy intersection of the A46 and A44, features 16 high-powered chargers. Its opening marks a turning point for the local infrastructure, effectively plugging a gap in what National Highways previously identified as a ‘cold spot’ for rapid charging on the UK’s Strategic Road Network.

Unlike many charging installations, the Twyford hub has been built on land owned by Osprey, enabling the company to deliver a larger, purpose-built charging facility using its latest hardware and software platforms. This ownership ensures spacious bay layouts, easy accessibility for larger vehicles, and the capacity for future expansion as EV adoption grows.

The hub uses advanced Kempower technology capable of delivering up to 300kW. For the average electric vehicle, this means adding roughly 100 miles of range in just 15 to 20 minutes.

The site also addresses a common frustration for EV drivers: payment reliability. The Twyford site is among the first to feature new PIN-enabled Adyen terminals. While contactless remains the standard, the ability to enter a PIN ensures that transactions won’t fail due to bank security triggers; a frequent hurdle at older, unattended stations.

As with all Osprey locations, the Twyford hub is powered by 100% renewable electricity.
