The Mazda CX-6e electric SUV is set to outpace its key fleet competitors on whole-life costs after securing a strong 55% residual value from CAP ahead of its UK debut next month.
The forecast places Mazda’s large electric SUV newcomer ahead of direct market rivals
The forecast, based on three years and 30,000 miles for the range-topping Takumi 258hp model, places Mazda’s large electric SUV newcomer ahead of direct market rivals. These include the Changan Deepal S07 Ultra (46.3%), MG MG6 Trophy (45%), Kia EV6 Air (41%) and Audi Q4 E-Tron Performance (37.1%).
Notably, CAP’s data places Mazda’s first all-electric large SUV competitively against the long-established Tesla Model Y 220kW (58.5%).
Showcased at the Brussels Motor Show in January, the CX-6e joins the Mazda6e fastback saloon as the Japanese brand expands its EV line-up.
The strong valuation follows positive feedback from a national roadshow, where Mazda invited asset management specialists and residual value setters from the UK’s largest contract hire companies to evaluate a left-hand-drive model ahead of its official debut.
Alex Janes, head of fleet at Mazda Motors UK, said: “The Mazda CX-6e is an important model for the brand, taking us into a dynamic new sector while significantly broadening our appeal among corporate customers and user-choosers.
“CAP’s confidence in setting a high residual value for the CX-6e is reinforced by feedback from our contract hire roadshow. Vendors responded extremely positively to its styling, quality, market positioning, range, specification and pricing.
“Following the successful introduction of the Mazda6e in September, the CX-6e advances our electrification strategy and gives fleets a compelling, cost-effective alternative in the highly competitive electric SUV segment.”
The Mazda CX-6e arrives in November in two highly specified grades: the £42,990 Takumi and the £45,350 Takumi Plus. The new electric SUV challenger will deliver bold looks, advanced technology and up to 300 miles of WLTP combined range.
