Motor Fuel Group (MFG), the UK’s largest independent forecourt operator, has passed 1,000 ultra-rapid EV charging bays across its EV Power charging network.
MFG has installed over 1,000 ultra-rapid EV charging bays across 170 hubs UK-wide
MFG EV Power now represents around 12% of the UK ultra-rapid charging network and is also the largest open ultra-rapid charging network inside the M25 – with some 20% of all ultra-rapid chargers.
Backed by a £400m investment, MFG will install a total of c.3,000 ultra-rapid 150kW, 300kW and 400kW EV chargers at some 500 sites by the end of 2030. It’s deploying the ultra-rapid and rapid EV charging bays at a pace of more than 20 per week.
By 2035, MFG plans to complete its EV rollout to all suitable remaining locations in its network, including the Morrisons supermarket estate.
Since the completion of the deal, MFG has installed 66 ultra-rapid EV charging bays on Morrisons supermarkets with 150 bays to follow in the next three months.
In total, MFG has more than 1,200 sites, including all Morrisons forecourts, which are around 90% freehold, with 150+ sites inside the M25.
The business has a dual fuel strategy on its forecourts, by developing EV Power charging hubs alongside traditional fuels, that are complemented by its adjacent convenience stores and food service outlets, including Greggs, Pret A Manger, Burger King, Subway and Costa, as well as around 900 MFG Car Wash Centres.
As MFG further establishes itself as a provider of essential infrastructure to enable the UK’s mobility revolution on the strategic road network, the firm said it also intends to actively target other charging segments and expand its EV offering.
William Bannister, chief executive at MFG, remarked: “Not only are we rolling out chargers at a rapid pace, we are also ensuring that the customer experience is of the highest quality both through the ease of use of our chargers but also through the upgrade of our adjacent convenience retail, food service and vehicle valeting offer – investing £170m in 2025 alone. Our commitment to EV is unwavering and I look forward to the continued growth of our network as MFG meets the national EV infrastructure requirement.”
