The new MGS6 EV is now available to order in the UK, expanding the choice of family-friendly electric C-SUVs for fleets.
Squaring up to the Tesla Model Y and Škoda Enyaq, the newcomer sits above the MGS5 EV and below the new IM6 SUV introduced under the Intelligence in Motion sub-brand.
It’s available in three “distinct” variants. The entry model is the MGS6 EV SE Long Range, priced at £37,995 and featuring a single, rear-mounted 245hp motor with 350Nm of torque, fed by a 77kWh battery for a WLTP combined range of 329 miles. It’s able to reach 0-62mph in 7.3 seconds and has a limited top speed of 124mph.
The MGS6 EV Trophy Long Range offers the same 329 miles’ capability, power and rear-wheel-drive configuration but adds in more equipment. It’s priced at £40,995.
At the top of the range, the MGS6 EV Trophy Dual Motor ups performance and adds in all-wheel drive. The dual-motor setup delivers 362hp of power for a 0-62mph time of 5.1 seconds. The 77kWh battery is carried over and provides a WLTP combined range of 301 miles.
All three models have a 144kW DC charging speed, giving a 10 to 80% charge in 38 minutes using rapid public chargers. Five drive modes with five regeneration modes, including One-Pedal, also feature.
The MGS6 EV is the third MG model to use the brand’s Modular Scalable Platform, first offered on the MG4 EV. It’s engineered for “outstanding dynamic handling combined with an exceptionally spacious and comfortable cabin” and has already achieved a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. Up to 674 litres of boot space are available, which extends to 1,910 litres with the rear seats folded and there’s up to 124 litres of storage in the front ‘frunk’.
Design features include a split grille design inspired by the MG Cyberster convertible, integrated high and low beam lights and a new, daytime running light signature. The MG octagon badge is prominently positioned on the front and has a polished, silver-effect finish.
The interior comes with a 10.25-inch driver display and 12.8-inch infotainment screen with wireless connection to Apple Car Play and Android Auto. Trophy models also get a head-up display, heated and ventilated front seats and a panoramic sunroof as well as an 11-speaker audio system and 50W ventilated wireless phone charger. They also come with in-built and popular apps such as You Tube, Spotify, Tik Tok and Amazon Music.
There are seven airbags as standard equipment and drivers are supported by MG Pilot, which offers a comprehensive suite of driver assistance technologies. This includes Active Emergency Braking, four individual lane safety features, blind spot detection, intelligent speed limit assist as well as a driver monitoring system. The MG Pilot Custom system enables drivers to select and store their own advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) to increase convenience or put particular focus on those safety features which they wish to prioritise.
Guy Pigounakis, MG Motor UK’s commercial director, said: “As a testament to MG’s commitment to delivering accessible, technology-for-everyone solutions and genuinely fun-to-drive vehicles, the MGS6 EV embodies our ambition to consistently exceed customer expectations. We are confident its unique combination of performance, technology and space will enable it to attract a new generation of customers to the MG brand for the first time.”
