Offering up to 93 miles of range, swappable batteries and a 235kg payload, it’s seen as a key solution for fleet operators to decarbonise, cut operating costs and maintain access to expanding clean air zones.

Produced by Vectrix Mobility, a Singapore-headquartered EV manufacturer with deployments across Asia, the Vectrix i-Cargo is “smaller and more agile than a conventional van, yet significantly more capable and stable than a delivery scooter”.

The i-Cargo is an L5e category vehicle, operable on a full A1 motorcycle licence or – for drivers aged 21 and over – a full Category B car licence, again significantly broadening the eligible driver pool for fleet managers.

The electric micro utility vehicle is designed for fleet managers to fill that gap where delivery loads are too big for a bike or moped, but too small to justify a van.

It’s built with a tilt-free, three-wheel chassis said to combine the stability of a car with the agility of a motorcycle.

Its micro utility vehicle form plus a 3m turning circle provide a unique advantage for navigating busy town and city centres, allowing it to pull up directly outside shops and retail units, access restricted loading zones, and operate in dense traffic.

Powered by a 72V / 6kW dual-motor system (2 x 3kW), the i-Cargo reaches speeds of up to 52mph and delivers a range of up to 93 miles on three battery packs. To eliminate downtime, the i-Cargo’s batteries can be swapped in seconds at depots, or charged overnight in under 3.5 hours.

Despite its compact footprint, the i-Cargo carries a 235 kg payload, making it perfect for parcel delivery, grocery logistics, food service and pharmaceutical distribution, among other areas. The top-opening rear cargo box can be configured with refrigerated or heated units for temperature-controlled delivery.

The single-seat cockpit is designed for all-weather commercial operation and comes with a full roof, front wipers, LCD instrument panel, rear camera, keyless start/stop, and hydraulic rear suspension.

Nathalie Hayes, director at MicroVolt, said: “The i-Cargo fills a gap operators have been trying to solve for years. If it’s too big a job for a cargo bike and too small for a Transit, the i-Cargo sits right in that space. With a form-factor that offers significant advantages on busy city streets, it is accessible to any driver with a full car licence. For fleet managers, that’s a game changer for recruitment and deployment.”

In Asia, the platform has been validated across more than 40 application scenarios, from e-commerce and postal delivery to airport, hospital, and emergency services operations.

For the UK, MicroVolt has selected it as the cornerstone of its three-wheel utility proposition, alongside the Benzina Zero Duo e-scooter and Hauler e-cargo bike range, and the Derry Neomor D01 micro electric van.

Combined, these vehicles form what MicroVolt describes as a “complete micro electric fleet ecosystem”, enabling operators to match the right vehicle to every last-mile delivery and urban mobility scenario, from a single e-cargo bike for an independent retailer to a mixed multi-model fleet for a national logistics operator.
