Moto has launched its own inhouse charging network in a new milestone for the motorway services operator.

Dubbed Moto Charge, the new 400kW ultra-rapid network launches first at Toddington North, with more sites due for installations in 2026 and beyond.

Moto is already working with partners Gridserve and Tesla to lead the rollout of superfast chargers across the motorway network and is now branching out to become a charge point operator itself.

Moto said the move would give more choice for charging at its sites while also aligning with its sustainability goals.

A spokesperson added: “Additionally, it supports our ambition to continue leading the charge when it comes to our EV efforts.”

The new chargers feature an eye-catching yellow design, large screens and a modern interface designed for easy use. They are capable of up to 400kW output and feature two CCS connectors on each unit, allowing for quick charging speeds to two vehicles.

The charging units accept contactless payments, Apple Pay, Google Pay, AMEX and RFID/charge cards and offer 24-hour support, in line with the UK’s Public Charge Point Regulations (2023).

The spokesperson added: “These new chargers support our continued commitment to making Moto the most dependable place to charge on the motorway. They are designed with motorway travel in mind, allowing you to charge quickly and reliably.”
