Nissan has expanded the line-up for its next-generation Leaf with a new entry-level option, dropping the entry price of the British-built electric vehicle to £28,849.
Available to order now, the new 52kWh battery variant follows the launch of the longer-range 75kWh model earlier this year. The new lead-in version qualifies for the Government’s full £3,750 Electric Car Grant, boosting its proposition as a highly affordable EV.
The smaller battery delivers a WLTP range of up to 280 miles and launches in both Engage and Advance grades.
It offers a highly competitive entry point to the Leaf line-up, which stands out as one of the most efficient EVs in the UK, with one of the highest miles-per-kWh ratios available.
Aditya Moorthy, product manager at Nissan Motor Great Britain (NMGB), highlighted the vehicle’s balance of performance and practicality.

Right-hand-drive Leaf production has now begun at Nissan’s Sunderland plant, and cars will arrive at dealerships later this summer.
The Leaf is the first EV in the UK to be in its third generation, and the latest model builds on its predecessors’ legacy while remaining true to its innovative roots. Manufactured at Nissan’s world-class Sunderland plant, the Leaf stands as Nissan’s most aerodynamic production car to date – delivering exceptional energy efficiency, rapid charging and advanced driver technology.
This third-generation Leaf brings major upgrades in aerodynamics, EV range, tech and radical new approaches to practical family transport. The line-up also includes the 75kWh version, which offers up to 387 miles (WLTP) on a charge and is priced from £32,249.
The Leaf is available in four grades – Engage, Engage+, Advance and Evolve – giving customers a wide range of price-points and features to choose from. Highlights of this tech-heavy model include infotainment with advanced Google Built-in technology, a dimming panoramic roof with Leaf detailing and innovative 3D taillights.
The Nissan Leaf first launched in 2010, marked out as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle. Since then, it has sold close to 700,000 units worldwide, with owners driving more than 18 billion electric miles.
