New partnership to transform home solar and EV charging solutions

EV smart charging provider EV.Energy has joined forces with Maxeon Solar Technologies to drive a more sustainable and cost-effective way for EV drivers to recharge.

The partnership combines smart and solar charging solutions across EMEA

The strategic partnership will accelerate the rollout of combined smart and solar charging solutions across EMEA.

Using EV.Energy’s smart charging solar functionality, EV drivers can use their excess solar power to charge their car (Solar Only mode) or use the combination of excess solar plus grid energy to power their car, ensuring the cheapest, greenest charge every time (Solar Smart mode).

Looking ahead, the two firms intend to integrate battery storage solutions and develop a roaming solution, allowing seamless charging experiences across different networks.

Aaron Sweet, head of home charging at EV.Energy, said: “This partnership marks a game-changer in driving EVs in a net zero way by enabling the charging of EVs with renewable energy. It represents a significant step forward in our collective efforts to create a sustainable future for transportation.”

Ralf Elias, Maxeon’s chief product officer, commented: “Partnering with an innovative category leader such as EV.Energy moves us another step closer to democratising clean energy. We’re excited to empower our customers to take their solar energy on the road with them through EV.Energy’s smart charging technology, and we look forward to building more valuable features in the future together.”

The initial rollout will take place across Spain, Italy and Belgium, with many other countries around the world to follow, such as the Netherlands, France, Germany and the USA. Customers will be supported by dedicated customer service teams in each country and an app using local languages.
