Škoda has confirmed that its Epiq electric crossover will be priced from £24,950, bringing the fight to rivals such as the Renault 4 and Ford Puma Gen-E.

The brand’s new baby EV – and its most affordable ever – opens for orders in July, sitting under the existing Elroq and Enyaq electric SUVs and costing slightly less than its Kamiq petrol-powered counterpart.

It’s based on the same MEB+ front-wheel-drive architecture as Volkswagen’s ID. Cross compact SUV, also used by the new VW ID. Polo and the Cupra Raval. All four EVs are manufactured in Spain and designed to deliver highly accessible entry-level EVs. The MEB+ platform allows the use of smaller, lighter batteries that help reduce energy consumption while also improving space efficiency in the interior.

Škoda says its new “city SUV crossover” will play a key role in its electric portfolio, together with the upcoming flagship Peaq.

The Epiq is available with two battery options and two power outputs, all combined with front‑wheel drive.

The entry-level Epiq 40 features a 135hp motor and a 37kWh (useable) battery that features lithium-ion-phosphate (LFP) chemistry. It’s expected to deliver a WLTP driving range of around 190 miles.

The Epiq 55 gets more power and range thanks to a 211hp motor and a larger 52kWh (useable) battery with nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) chemistry. This provides a higher energy density and supports a longer driving range of up to 272 miles on the WLTP cycle. It also delivers a higher peak DC charging speed of 105kW.

Both battery variants can charge from 10-80% in under 25 minutes. In addition, the Epiq supports bidirectional charging, enabling the energy stored in the battery to be used externally or, depending on infrastructure, supplied to a household or the grid. The Epiq also enables full one-pedal driving in B mode, with switchable regeneration intensity.

Design brings a glossy black Tech-Deck Face, along with a new T-shaped light signature that will be used on future Škoda SUV models, plus a robust bumper design with O-shaped air inlets.

The Epiq also balances its compact design with a spacious interior and boot space of 475 litres, alongside a 25-litre frunk.

The UK range will consist of two trim levels: SE L and Edition. An exclusive First Edition will also be offered from launch featuring a packed specification list that includes a number of unique design elements.

The interior follows the brand’s Modern Solid design philosophy and combines premium materials, intuitive controls and a wide range of Simply Clever features.

Customers can further personalise their Epiq with a choice of three new interior Design Selections.

Loft Grey, which is standard on SE L and Edition, combines grey fabric and artificial leather with grey stitching and provides a traditional feel with genuine comfort and features a range of sustainable materials. This includes Techtona, a durable, easy-care synthetic leather alternative that reduces chemical use and water consumption during production. This completely animal-free material makes its debut in the Epiq.

Loft Mint, which is available as an option on Edition, features mint fabric and grey artificial leather with mint stitching, while Suite (also optional on Edition), comprises brown artificial leather and microsuede with brown stitching.

Equipment includes a new infotainment system and a 13-inch centre display. The system offers extensive personalisation options, online services and access to a dedicated app store. The MyŠkoda app enables remote access to vehicle information, charging management and selected comfort functions. The Epiq also comes with a five-inch digital cockpit, wireless Smartlink integration, rear parking sensors, one-zone climate control, keyless start/stop and adaptive cruise control.

All models also come equipped with safety and driver assistance systems such as front assist, side assist, lane assist and traffic sign Recognition. Occupant safety is supported by seven airbags as standard, including a centre airbag.

The Epiq First Edition 55 will be offered as a limited edition model with the larger 52kWh battery and 211hp motor.

It adds in Navajo Orange features, a two-tone paint finish with black roof, black First Edition badge on the tailgate, black roof rails and 20-inch alloy wheels.

Inside, the Epiq First Edition gains orange stitching and seat belts, a three-spoke sports steering wheel with red stitching and a First Edition badge, a black headlining, sports pedal covers, and decorative door sills.

As standard, the Epiq First Edition includes the Convenience and Tech Packages. Optional equipment includes the Travel Package and the Light & View Package.

The Epiq will be offered with six paint colour options, five of which are new and include the free-of-charge solid paint colour Marble Grey (solid) and exclusive metallic paint colour Jasper Red. The other solid colour available from launch is Timano Green while metallic options consist of Platinum White, Pebble Silver and Mystery Black. 18-inch alloy wheels are fitted as standard, moving up to 20-inch wheels with the First Edition trim. More optional wheels are also available between 18 to 19 inches across the range.
