Dacia is hoping its new EV will build on the success of its predecessor, which opened the door to fleet sales in the public sector.

The new Dacia Spring, unveiled today (8 September), moves to a new platform, but the company hopes retains its key ingredients of comfort, low cost and user-friendliness to make it more attractive to fleet users.
Lina Ribero, Dacia brand director for the UK, told Fleet World: “Dacia remains a ‘retail-first’ brand, but the original Spring gained a great deal of interest among public sector fleets in 2025 and 2026, there is a renewed opportunity for the successor to achieve greater success.”
The second-generation Spring offers a similar size battery to its predecessor, but has a more powerful motor. It’s 15cm longer and 18cm wider than the car it replaces with deliveries to UK customers beginning in 2027. The car shares its electric-only platform with the new Renault Twingo.
Prices are expected to start at less than £18,000 for the entry-level Expression, and less than £20,000 for the higher specification Journey. Range is expected to be up to 155 miles on the WLTP combined cycle, although as an urban-focused vehicle, DC charging will only be available as an option in the Charging Pack, which also features V2L capability.
An 18-litre storage compartment under the bonnet for the charging cable is also an optional extra.
Ribero continued: “We are expecting the new Spring to be successful with fleet customers, but we are not prepared to participate in fleet at any cost. When opportunities to engage with fleets arise, we take them.”
She added that operating as one of four complementary brands within Renault Group (including Renault, Alpine and Renault Professional LCVs) it gave the whole business a better portfolio to engage with fleet customers.
