Xpeng UK is introducing an updated version of the G6 just months after the Tesla Model Y rival touched down in the UK.

On sale from Q1 2026, the updated SUV-coupé introduces significant changes for performance, design, technology and efficiency while holding prices at £39,990 for the RWD Standard Range and £44,990 for the Long Range.

Big news is the arrival of the G6 All-Wheel-Drive (AWD) Performance Black Edition for the first time, available from £49,990. Designed for “surefooted traction and searing performance”, its dual-motor setup produces 487hp of power, enabling the AWD model to accelerate from 0-62mph in 4.1 seconds. The Performance derivative also delivers “exceptional handling, stability and driving dynamics” from its all-wheel-drive system and advanced chassis tuning.

The Black Edition features 20-inch black sport alloy wheels, smoked black exterior trim and a grey-toned upholstery with a suede texture for “high-performance attitude”.

The updated G6 features a new 80.8kWh battery featuring lithium iron phosphate (LFP) cell chemistry that eliminates precious metals such as cobalt, nickel and manganese, offering “a more sustainable solution without compromising performance”. Combined with Xpeng’s 800V architecture, the 5C battery enables claimed industry-leading charging speeds with a peak power of 451kW and delivers a 30% increase in battery lifespan.

As a result of battery evolution, the new G6 can now potentially charge from 10% to 80% in just 12 minutes, making it the fastest-charging EV in its segment, according to the Chinese brand.

Xpeng has also refined the G6 with enhancements in areas including chassis and suspension tuning, steering dynamics, electric powertrain behaviour, battery management and NVH (noise, vibration, and harshness) levels – equipping it for “challenging” British roads.

The “high-efficiency” heat pump is now standard across all trims and Xpeng Heat Boost Technology is designed for efficient cabin warming, while the braking system “ensures smooth control in both urban and motorway environments”.

Exterior and interior styling updates across the line-up include a new full-width front light bar, rear spoiler, body-coloured wheelarches and fresh colour options.

Interior styling enhancements include a new wood-grain dash trim, with suede-effect ceiling material, and a Dark Grey interior colour theme. The G6 also gets redesigned speaker covers, softer wireless charging panels (upgraded to 50W×2), and updated materials on the A- and B-pillars.

RWD Long Range and AWD Performance models feature an upgraded 9-inch digital inner rear-view mirror, while there’s new ambient lighting designs on the door panels and front dashboard. Front seats now feature heating, ventilation and massage functions, while the rear seats continue to offer a 12-level recline function for exceptional comfort.

The XOS cockpit system delivers “noticeable” improvements over the current model, with faster app response times, smarter voice recognition and “ultra-smooth” UI transitions. The enhanced “Hey Xpeng” voice assistant now offers intelligent recommendations across four zones of the cabin.

Safety is also a key focus. The battery features bulletproof-level protection with a 4-3-4 structural safety framework and ballistic-grade armour, capable of withstanding extreme conditions, including 1,000°C heat and 80 tons of side crush pressure, producing a 30% improvement in overall durability.

The Xpilot Assist system includes Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane Centring Control, Enhanced AutoParking Assist, Remote Parking Assist with phone and key, Surrounding Video System, and seven airbags with advanced collision prevention systems across forward, side and rear scenarios.

The arrival of the new G6 follows Xpeng’s UK launch in February 2025. The business, founded in 2014, styles itself as a Chinese-born global-orientated high-tech automotive company and is aiming to rollout to over 60 countries and regions by year-end.
