The Omoda 5 small SUV has gained a new full-hybrid powertrain, priced from £25,740.

Heralding the Chery-owned brand’s first self-charging model in the UK, the new Omoda 5 SHS-H (short for ‘Super Hybrid System – Hybrid’) joins the existing Omoda 5 pure petrol and E5 pure electric models.
It’s positioned as a “highly accessible full-hybrid SUV” that offers drivers an efficient electrified alternative without the need to plug in.
The powertrain teams up a 1.5-litre turbo full-hybrid system with a 1.83kW battery and is driven through a dedicated DHT automatic transmission.
Omoda says it’s set up to balance responsive performance and everyday efficiency across urban, suburban and longer-distance driving.
The 5 SHS-H delivers a total driving range of over 650 miles and up to 53mpg (WLTP).
Victor Zhang, UK country director for Omoda UK, said the arrival of the 5 SHS-H was a significant milestone for the brand on these shores.
“It marks our first full-hybrid model and reflects exactly what Omoda is focused on delivering: highly efficient, intelligently engineered vehicles that fit seamlessly into everyday life. The Omoda 5 SHS-H brings together the bold design and technology our customers already value, with the added benefits of a self-charging hybrid system that requires no change in driving habits. It’s a key next step as we continue to broaden our powertrain offering in line with what UK drivers are asking for.”
As with its pure ICE and EV counterparts, the Omoda 5 SHS-H is offered in two trim levels: Knight and Noble.
The entry-level Knight model comes with 18-inch alloy wheels, full LED lighting, dual 12.3-inch digital displays, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, intelligent voice control and a suite of advanced driver assistance and safety systems.
The Noble version, priced from £29,240, takes a more comfort- and technology-focused approach, adding features such as a 540-degree surround-view camera, an 8-speaker Sony audio system, ambient interior lighting, heated and ventilated front seats, and additional convenience features.
Styling gains the same features adopted by the Omoda 5 and E5 for the 2026 model year that include an all-new front grille and bumper design and refreshed alloy wheel styling.
All models come with the brand’s seven-year/100,000-mile vehicle warranty and an eight-year/100,000-mile warranty on the battery.
UK customer deliveries of the new Omoda 5 SHS-H start in March 2026.
