A new EV charging subscription that gives drivers a single fixed price for charging both at home and on the go is now available from Ovo Energy.

Said to be a UK-first, the Charge Anytime monthly plans enable Ovo customers to cover their monthly home and public charging needs, with prices from £27.50 per month.

There are two monthly plans to choose from and both include smart charging at home and public charging vouchers, which can be used across more than 400,000 chargers throughout the UK and Europe.

The Standard monthly plan includes 700 miles of smart charging at home per month (8,400 miles per year) and public charging vouchers that can cover 600 miles of driving. Those mileage figures are based on a vehicle efficiency of 4mpkWh. This plan also includes EV charger insurance cover against accidental damage, theft and vandalism. It’s priced at £27.50 a month – saving EV drivers over £340 per year, according to Ovo’s calculations.

The Premium monthly plan ups this to 1,000 miles of smart charging at home per month (12,000 miles per year) while still offering public charging vouchers for 600 miles of driving. EV charger insurance cover is included again plus drivers also get a free annual battery health check and “deep” EV insights from ClearWatt along with a 15% discount on KwikFit Club tyres. It’s priced at £37.50 a month – saving EV drivers up to £460 per year, according to Ovo.

A Charge Anytime pay-as-you-go plan is also available for customers with lighter mileage and gives a discounted energy rate of 14p per kWh for smart charging, while drivers will pay their normal energy rate when not smart charging.

There’s no long-term contract, drivers can switch plans depending on their needs, and there are multi-car options for households with multiple EVs.
