The Renault 5 electric supermini has been boosted for MY27 with a package of efficiency, technology and design enhancements – all with no price increase.

Open for orders now, the fully electric hatchback still starts from £21,495 OTR and still qualifies for the full £3,750 Electric Car Grant.
Both Urban and Comfort Range powertrains now travel further on a single charge, thanks to aerodynamic enhancements to the lower body and door mirrors, as well as optimised battery electronics.
The updates increase official WLTP range to 197 miles for the 40kWh, 120hp Urban Range powertrain and 259 miles for the 52kWh, 150hp Comfort Range – up by four miles in both cases.
The revised Renault 5 also gains a new SmartMode that automatically switches between Eco, Comfort and Sport according to how the car is being driven. This unleashes the sharper responses of Sport mode when overtaking, before moving back to Eco when the pace drops through a town or village.
Drivers who prefer to make the choice themselves can still change modes through the OpenR Link touchscreen or by voice command.
With SmartMode taking care of more of the work automatically, the dedicated Multi-Sense button has been removed from the steering wheel.
The cabin also gets a major boost with the arrival of Google’s Gemini AI assistant, available through an optional over-the-air update to Google Assistant. Gemini allows passengers to converse naturally, interrupt responses and even switch languages mid-sentence.
Other hardware updates include a new magnetic, cooled wireless smartphone charger using the Qi2 standard that provides more effective charging and helps prevent overheating, restoring up to 50% of a compatible phone’s battery in an hour.
The eCall system has also been upgraded for compatibility with newer 4G/5G mobile networks.
On the design side, fresh colours, new upholstery and additional personalisation choices broaden the Renault 5 palette.
The familiar four-model line-up continues as before: Evolution uses the 40kWh, 120hp Urban Range powertrain, while Techno+, Iconic Five+ and Roland Garros+ retain the 52kWh, 150hp Comfort Range.
