Richmond and Wandsworth Councils have appointed Zest to deliver 200 new electric vehicle charge points across the two boroughs.
Zest will install and operate 100 charge points in each borough; all fully funded at no cost to the councils
The rollout will focus on standalone 22kW fast chargers to deliver convenient, local charging for residents – particularly those without access to off-street parking. The approach supports the wider aim of ensuring chargers are located within a short walk of where people live, with sufficient coverage to meet growing demand.
Under the agreement, Zest will install and operate 100 charge points in each borough, fully funding the infrastructure and its ongoing operation at no cost to the councils, and supporting the continued expansion of on-street charging across London.
It’s the latest deal for Zest, which delivers EV charging infrastructure for more than 30 public sector organisations nationwide.
Robin Heap, CEO of the charging company, said: “Access to reliable, local charging is critical for people who can’t charge at home.
“By focusing on the right infrastructure in the right locations, projects such as this help make electric vehicles a practical option for more residents, while building the foundations for long-term adoption.”
