EV charging network Roam has announced a double-boost for electric vehicle drivers, introducing free short-stay parking and discounted charging rates at its ultra-rapid hub at Hilton Heathrow Terminal 5.

Effective immediately, drivers using the charging station on Poyle Road can benefit from a 40-minute grace period with no parking fees. The initiative aims to remove cost barriers for those needing a quick top-up while passing through the Heathrow corridor.

Roam is also launching a month-long promotion throughout April. During this period, the cost of ultra-rapid charging will be slashed to 59p/kWh, representing a 7p saving against the standard tariff.

The site features 10 ultra-rapid sockets capable of delivering up to 300kW, allowing drivers to gain significant range during the free 40-minute parking window.

“Making EV charging simple and accessible is central to our purpose,” said James Randall, CEO of Roam. “By providing free parking for the first 40 minutes, we’re removing a cost barrier for drivers who need a quick charge while travelling or stopping nearby. We hope the discounted rate throughout April will also encourage drivers who might have chosen other points to give our rapid chargers a try.”

Drivers do not need to register with the hotel to use the facilities. Access is available via the Roam app or simple pay-as-you-go contactless payment.

The move is part of Roam’s wider strategy to support EV adoption by making high-powered charging more affordable and convenient across its network.
