Scotland’s Cabinet Secretary for Transport Fiona Hyslop has officially opened Osprey’s new super-fast EV charging hub in Paisley.

Located near the M8 and Glasgow Airport, the dedicated hub adds 16 new 300kW charge points to the national EV charging network, with 24/7 public access. Chargers accept contactless payment via card or Apple/Google Pay, with no need to download an app and Ospreys run a free, 24/7 helpline assisting drivers whenever they need it. For business or fleet drivers, receipts can be obtained via the Osprey App and the chargers accept all major third-party payment methods including fleet cards.

The new development represents significant private investment into the local area’s EV infrastructure by Osprey Charging.

Located on Saturn Avenue in the Phoenix retail area of Paisley, this is Osprey’s second land acquisition, purchased for its proximity to the M8 and Glasgow Airport. The site is easily accessible from both the east- and westbound carriageways of the A737, less than five minutes from the M8 (Junction 29) and less than 10 minutes’ drive from Glasgow Airport’s terminal.

Osprey has fully redesigned the space specifically for EV charging, with a flow-through layout, pedestrian walkways, space-saving charge points and the firm’s signature layout that maximises charger ease-of-use and accessibility for larger vehicles such as vans, including two bays that meet PAS1899 standards. Drivers can plug in and pop to next door to McDonald’s, Tim Hortons or the Marmalade Pot pub. There is also a fleet locker onsite for engineers to re-stock whilst charging.

Transport Secretary Fiona Hyslop said: “Not only is this sort of private sector investment exactly what we need to see to support our vision for public EV charging, it’s in a prime location offering high-powered EV charging to fleets, taxis and everyday drivers travelling around Glasgow and to and from the airport.

“We’ve already achieved our target of 6,000 public charge points two years ahead of schedule thanks to a combination of public funding and increasing private sector investment, with the private sector now responsible for more than two thirds of Scotland’s public EV charging. This site demonstrates how public ambition and private sector investment can support the shift to EVs.”

The new hub is an important investment in Osprey’s rollout of high-quality public rapid charging infrastructure in Scotland. Osprey currently operates more than 130 rapid and ultra-rapid charge points in Scotland at 32 locations, including at more remote locations such as John O’Groats and Wick on the North Coast 500. In Zapmap’s 2025 rankings, Osprey was a ‘Driver Recommended Network’ for the fifth consecutive year.
